I'm Helen. A self-confessed 'slightly anxious' twenty-something. I recently decided to quit my job as a secondary school English Teacher to follow a dream I had always had but never mustered up the courage to live out. I'd perhaps, in truth, been waiting for someone to go on this journey with me and make it all a little less daunting. But alas, with no sign of 'that' perfect travelling partner, I have decided to go it alone. With this came a realisation that it was time to find my own happy. I am now seeking out the joys in life and hope to find a fair few of those in the people I meet and places I experience as I travel around the world.
I grew up in the Cotswolds (UK), went to University in Bristol and spent a couple of years in my early/mid twenties living in London. After the break-up of what I thought would be the 'forever' relationship, I'm now back in amongst the sheep and fields and (yes, I know I'm too old to be doing this) living with my parents. Whilst I've been fortunate enough to go on a number of holidays, I've only ever done these in the conventional 'holidaying' sense and ALWAYS with others. This is why my upcoming travelling adventures are set to be a challenge (in the most positive sense of the word, I hope!).
In amongst my years of teaching, I also squeezed in short career change/break and spent couple of years working in a PR agency that specialised in Food and Restaurants. This opened a 'country girl's' eyes to culinary wonders and whilst I have always been a big food lover, I now feel ready to explore the tastes and flavours on offer around the world, with just a little more knowledge of what really makes great food.
